Overwatch set a record with 9.7 million players during its Open Beta


Blizzard Entertainment today announced that more than 9.7 million players around the world have played Overwatch, during its Open Beta for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC. When Open Beta was finished on May 10, participants enjoyed more than 4.9 billion minutes (about 81 million hours of play) in more than 37 million battles of pure competitive action, incredible teamwork and unlimited fun.

“We are delighted that such an incredible number of players around the world have had the opportunity to try Overwatch during Open Beta,” said Mike Morhaime, president and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “Our mission was to ensure that as many PC and console players could experience the full game before its release-the response was overwhelming and we hope that everyone enjoyed the most.”
In Overwatch, players choose from a diverse group of 21 heroes each with its own unique arsenal of weapons and incredible skills and grouped in teams to complete objectives on battlefields around the world. The Overwatch will hit store shelves in versions for Windows PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One from this May 24.
Overwatch will also be available in Latin Spanish from for $ 39, it will also include English, Brazilian Portuguese, German, French, Italian, Polish, Russian, Korean (only PC), Japanese (only for PC and PS4) and traditional and Chinese simplified (for PC only). Overwatch is rated ‘T” for Teen by the ESRB.
On Monday, Blizzard will launch a third animated video titled “Dragons”, which will present one of the great rivalries of the game: Hanzo and Genji clan stems Shimada.
